Introduction to Computers

Course Description:

This is a 1-day course teaches basic computer concepts, fundamental PC troubleshooting techniques, Internet use, and desktop publishing tools. It begins by covering basic PC components including the Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, and PC chassis components. The role and function of the Central processing unit (CPU), Random Access Memory (RAM), fixed disk drive, CD-ROM drive, and floppy disk drive are discussed. The differences between inkjet and laser printers are examined. Navigating Windows and the Internet are presented with simple in-class exercises. Students then use a desktop publishing tools like WordPerfect to compose and print a simple memo. Finally, simple troubleshooting techniques are demonstrated and examined.

Who Should Attend

This class is designed for wage grade professionals needing to work with PCs. Attendees do not need to have a formal technical background.

Duration & Cost:

Introduction to computers is a one-day seminar that accommodates a maximum of 24 students and is conducted by a primary instructor and one assistant instructor. The client provides all training facilities, including the computer lab. The client is provided with a master copy of the student manual that may be reproduced, at their cost, for each student in the class. Total cost for the day is $1,734 for any location within a 150-mile radius of Columbia,Maryland. Organizations located outside of this service area are also eligible to purchase this class, please call for a quote for your specific needs.
