Pete Moulton's
How to Reduce Software Licensing Costs
Getting The Most From Your Software Investment
Dear Business Colleague:
This seminar was developed because the Software Police A.K.A. The Business Software
Alliance sent me a threatening letter concerning proper licensing of the software on my computers.
Like most enterprises I felt that I was compliant with all software licenses, but I discovered
that the Business Software Alliance had a policy of zero tolerance for any
improperly installed licensed software and that their compliance testing in my
opinion was unfair. Further, they audited small enterprises like Turf Valley and attained
monetary settlements for licensing violations that cost the audited enterprises around $100,000.
This caused me to research further that lead me to discover freeware, Open Source software
(General Public License), and ways to purchase licensed software at significantly lower cost
than retail prices. Consequently, I concluded that most licensed PC software is
overpriced and that enterprises spend far too much money assuring compliance
with software licenses.
I believe that Microsoft is pushing its customers to annual license fees with its software assurance
initiative. Such software assurance does not make Microsoft software better. Microsofts software has
become more quirky and necessitates constant security updates. Other free software works equally
as well as Microsofts software and is much less vulnerable to security breaches.
Because I do not like being threatened, I fought back and changed my computers to GPL licensed software
and freeware. Enterprises that are firmly committed to using Microsoft software can still save significant
money by using freeware and GPL license software.
This seminar shows you how to save money and protect yourself from potential costly audits by reducing dependence on
expensive licensed software. Attend this seminar and start saving money today.
